Facebook Ad Report Puts Beto O'Rourke as Top Spender, After Facebook

On Friday, a University of Texas/Texas Tribune Poll revealed that Cruz now has a 6 point lead over Congressman O'Rourke despite the Democratic challenger almost doubling the incumbent in fundraising and winning the endorsement of two of the state's top newspapers.

O'Rourke, 46, has served in Congress since 2013 and is regarded as a moderate liberal.

"They're not going to take into account the immigrant who received citizenship this year and is voting for the first time, the person who has dropped out of voting for 20 years but now with everything on the line is getting to the polls", O'Rourke said on Friday. The Chronicle endorsed Cruz in 2012, but the Dallas Morning news did not.

This Editorial Board has recommended conservative Republicans such as George W. Bush and Mitt Romney for president, along with U.S. Sens.

O'Rourke has focused on community throughout his campaign.

Additionally, one of O'Rourke's goals is to seek fruitful conversations that heal communities instead of divide them. That is Beto O'Rourke.

On the heels of this endorsement came an unspoken one, not by a Texas newspaper, or even someone who has anything to do with Texas, but rather National Basketball Association superstar and frequent activist Lebron James.

Exacerbating the crisis is the fact that the US Defense Department plans to send at least 800 troops to the southern border to prevent the caravan from entering the United States, media reported Thursday. O'Rourke gave his supporters the usual unscripted remarks, speaking in Spanish at times, but he didn't mention Cruz by name, or pick fights.

When considering capital backing, O'Rourke has surprisingly run a full grass-roots campaign, refusing to accept any PAC money.

Currently, O'Rourke has a 46.8 percent forecasted vote share, according to FiveThirtyEight, a reputable polling aggregate website.

James has shown support for Beto in the past.

James, a Los Angeles resident after opting out of his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers and signing with the Lakers in the off season, is not eligible to vote in Texas.
