Full Microsoft Surface Pro 6 details paint an iterative update picture

Microsoft is announcing a bunch of things at its NY event today, and one of the main highlights of today's event is the new Surface Laptop. The Redmond, Washington-headquartered company has a launch event scheduled for October 2 in NY where the new Surface devices are likely to debut.

Microsoft Surface event 2018: When is it and where is it?

The Surface Pro 6 is faster than its predecessor.

The highest end models can be spec'ed up to 16GB of RAM and an Intel Core i7 processor.

Be sure to have this page open come 4pm ET (1pm PT; 9pm BST), which is when the keynote kicks off in New York City, for all of the latest regarding Microsoft Surface. Both systems reportedly retain the same port configurations: 1x USB-A 3.0 port, microSD card reader, mini-Display Port, and the proprietary Surface Connect port for the Surface Pro, with just a USB-A port, mini-DisplayPort, and Surface Connect for the Surface Laptop. The machine will remain under-provisioned in terms of SSD storage, however, with just 128GB. A price for the Surface Laptop 2 was not leaked alongside. The report claims that the entry-level price for the Surface Pro 6 will be Euro 899 (roughly Rs. 75,900).

In mere hours, Microsoft is expected to pull the curtain back on a number of refreshed Surface devices. It will start at 8GB RAM. The new devices should pack Intel's 8th generation processors, but we'll find out more later today.

It's a bit of an odd move by Microsoft, especially since the company initially embraced the port on its Surface Book 2 and Surface Go devices. Users will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 Home for free, but not to Windows 10 Professional.

Since introducing us to the Windows as a Service model, Microsoft has gone from an aggressively ambitious strategy to a more mature one in the past year or so.

Surface Pro 6 will be available in black and platinum beginning October 16, starting at $899. It looks like Microsoft has officially confirmed earlier reports that claimed that the new Surface lineup will be launched in a black colour variant.
