'The Situation' Is Going to Prison

Michael "The Situation" Sorrentino was sentenced to eight months in federal prison Friday for cheating on his taxes.

Jersey Shore castmates Pauly D, Vinny, Ronnie, Snooki, JWoww and Deena attended Friday's sentencing hearing to support Sorrentino, all dressed in black. Marc Sorrentino pleaded guilty to one count of assisting in the preparation of a false return.

Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino is going to jail.

A federal judge sentenced the star shortly after his brother, Marc Sorrentino, received a two-year sentence on a similar charge.

"Today I live my life with integrity", he said.

As ET previously reported, Sorrentino and his brother pleaded guilty in January to tax evasion.

In pre-sentencing documents obtained by the Associated Press on Thursday, attorneys for the MTV star said they hoped to get him probation, citing Sorrentino's struggles with substance abuse during the time.

Despite these legal hiccups, The Situation managed to appear on both seasons of MTV's recent Jersey Shore reboot, Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. "Part of the cost of making money is you have to pay taxes".

The pair were indicted on federal charges in September 2014.

The "Jersey Shore" alum was also ordered to undergo two years of supervised release, complete 500 hours of community service, and pay a $10,000 fine.

They raked in an estimated $8.9 million between 2010 and 2012 from a range of product endorsements, appearance fees and other projects capitalizing on Sorrentino's wild popularity, according to the U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey.
