Berbatov: "I hope Pochettino rejects Real Madrid"

Berbatov:

Pochettino's name has been linked with Los Blancos since the departure of Julen Lopetegui on Monday, the Spurs coach having reportedly interested Madrid as a replacement for Zinedine Zidane earlier in the year.

The January transfer window is now two months away, and Pochettino said recently that he would like to bring in new recruits.

But Pochettino, whose side are now fifth in the Premier League, made his case for remaining with Tottenham as he talked passionately about returning the clubs to their famous 1961 double-winning glory days.

"You need to play for something that is bigger than a person". Our fans are so frustrated but you are the first that wants to win, the players, the staff, everyone.

"Pochettino is obviously a good manager with experience in La Liga and for that reason I believe he could be a good option for the club". "I work like I'm going to be here for all of my career". I think we're in the middle of the [journey] and I don't believe that it's the end of something.

"The reality is we are very close to finishing the new stadium, we're very close to creating, in facilities, one of the best clubs in the world".

"He's a massive part of wanting to be at this club", Alli said. I think when I watch video from the 1960s, it's very emotional and I think it would be fantastic to deliver that moment again for our fans.

He added: 'When I arrived at Tottenham, the first video I think Daniel Levy or the people showed me was of Tottenham Hotspur, we are talking about the glory. "But first of all we need to finish the stadium, move in, make home".

Tottenham went into the game against West Ham just 48 hours after facing Manchester City in the Premier League.

'Of course all have different costs to pay, and sometimes to win titles today is hard for different reasons that you and our fans know very well.

Rose hasn't featured for Tottenham since the win over Cardiff City on October 6th due to groin strain and the Spurs boss has also confirmed the left-back is unlikely to return before the global break so he'll sit out the next three games. But the teams that are not so good, they change maybe 10 players - 10 out, 10 in - because they need to spark or change the dynamic.

Several supporters praised his performance at the back, some going as far to claim they think he is ready to start on Saturday when Tottenham take on Wolves.

Pochettino will again be without Victor Wanyama for the trip to Wolves due to a knee injury, the midfielder joining Eric Dier (thigh), Danny Rose (groin) and Jan Vertonghen (hamstring) on the sidelines.
