`Bully` Shane Warne condemns attack on Syrian refugee inside English school

`Bully` Shane Warne condemns attack on Syrian refugee inside English school

The perpetrator is thought to be a student at Almondbury Community School in Huddersfield and has been the subject of hundreds of violent threats online.

A video of what was referred to by mainstream media as an attack, reportedly dating back to late October, circulated on the Internet on Tuesday, showing the "attacker" pushing the 15-year-old to the ground and pouring water on his face.

A second video emerged last night appearing to show the boy's 14-year-old sister also being attacked.

Britain's best-known critic of Islam, Tommy Robinson, claimed in a Facebook post on Thursday that there was nothing wrong in the attack on a Syrian refugee boy in school premises in Huddersfield, northern England, as he himself - as part of a whole gang - had previously assaulted a white girl.

In the video the Syrian boy, who has his arm in a cast, is dragged to the floor by his neck before he is told by the attacker "I'll drown you". "When he is asleep he wakes up saying they want to beat me up".

Police said they are investigating the harrowing incident, which took place on playing fields at Almondbury Community School on October 25.

More than £35,000 has been raised to support the family of the victim.

-Throughout the campaign I have increased the target of the funds and I will continue to do so as I feel it is important that we raise as much money as possible for the family.

An online fundraising page set up to help the 15-year-old boy and his family has so far raised more than £50,000.

It said the incident was "fully investigated at the time", with three youths interviewed.

Another donor, Simon Porter, said: 'Syrian refugee children who have fled a war torn country being bullied in a United Kingdom school is unacceptable'.

In a statement West Yorkshire Police confirmed the boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons but denies being a serial bully, will appear at Youth Court "in due course".

Akunjee told CNN that the family fled from Homs in Syria to Lebanon.

The statement added that the victim "suffered a wrist injury" in a "previous unconnected incident" on October 7.

He tweeted: "Have been supporting the family since it was first brought to my attention".

In a Twitter post, Huddersfield MP Barry Sheerman described the video as "absolutely shocking".

"I was disappointed when I came to the United Kingdom because I was thinking my life is going to be good, my future is going to be really good if I study at school".

He said: "The safety and welfare of students is of paramount importance to us and this was a very serious incident".

The Daily Telegraph this week revealed that the boy's family are prepared to sue the school and Kirklees Council for compensation if evidence of safeguarding failures are found.
