Paramount Ranch Fire Has Burned Westworld Sets to the Ground

Paramount Ranch, an iconic set used in TV shows and films from Westworld to The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, has burned in the devastating Woolsey Fire in western Los Angeles County. According to the Los Angeles Public Library's website, the decades-old movie set is the only "working movie western town in the National Parks System".

In a Twitter post, park officials said they "do not have any details or photos, but it is our understanding that the structures have burned". Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman, the 1990s Western drama starring Jane Seymour filmed there, as well as 1968's Herbie The Love Bug, the acclaimed HBO series Carnivale and more were all filmed there.

The Malibu, Calabasas, and Agoura areas are all being evacuated due to the Woolsey fire.

Paramount Ranch, which served as a filming location for almost 500 films and television shows over the years, is the latest casualty of the wildfires that are now sweeping across California.

The ranch, seen before the blaze, has been the site of numerous productions and was started by Paramount in 1927.

The main sets for the HBO series, including the central town of Sweetwater featuring the Mariposa Saloon and the train stop, have not been affected, as those are located Melody Ranch in Santa Clarita.

The town was used in the first and second seasons of HBO's "Westworld".

The National Parks Service bought a portion of the original Paramount property in 1980 and revitalized the old movie ranch. Westworld isn't now in production, and as the area's been evacuated, we don't know the extent of the damage to any structures remaining there yet. The Woolsey and Hill fires are burning in the Los Angeles area in Southern California. HBO said it did not know the extent of the damage and expressed concern for "all those affected by these frightful fires".

Western Town specifically was built for TV productions in the 1950s and was used for TV series including "The Cisco Kid" and "Dick Powell's Zane Grey Theatre". In Northern California, the Camp Fire has killed at least five people.
