Pretend you've got Prime with Amazon's free holiday shipping promo

Amazon Day (not to be confused with Amazon Prime Day) is now available to a selected group of shoppers in the U.S., giving them the option to pick a specific day of the week to receive deliveries.

You don't need to be an Amazon Prime member to get free shipping this holiday season. According to Amazon, it's the largest selection of items that ship free in the country; millions of products are up for the deal.

Today Amazon announced that they are offering free shipping to everyone in the United States with no minimum purchase needed.

FBN's Cheryl Casone on Amazon reportedly nearing a decision on the location of its second headquarters and the company waiving its purchase minimum for free shipping on holiday orders.

Amazon's announcement comes as its retail competitors, perhaps having read research indicating that consumers put a high premium on receiving invoices that don't include a price for shipping, have made their own bids for end-of-year business by taking that off the table.

Amazon also said that Amazon Prime members will be able to enjoy free same-day delivery.

Good things do come to those who wait-specifically those who've yet to jump on the Amazon Prime bandwagon. During the fourth quarter of 2017, the company spent a record $7.3 billion getting packages to customers.

According to the Seattle company's latest annual filing, shipping costs almost doubled from 2015 to 2017, reaching $21.7 billion. The offer covers every product category, and although no end date is listed in the Amazon press release, orders arriving in time for Christmas suggests it will end around December 22 just like Target's offer does.
