‘The Mandalorian’: Gina Carano Joins Cast Of Disney+’s ‘Star Wars’ Series

Gina Carano (Deadpool, In the Blood) has joined the previously announced Pedro Pascal in The Mandalorian, the upcoming live-action Star Wars series for Disney+, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

The article implies he'll play the title character, "a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic". It has also been announced that Disney is now developing multiple limited series featuring characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe for their upcoming streaming service. Variety notes that the deal has not yet been finalized, but the part has been offered to Pascal and negotiations have started.

You might remember Pascal for playing Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones, his iconic battle with the Mountain surely seared into all of our minds.

According to Variety, the Game Of Thrones and Narcos actor had been one of those under consideration and is now negotiating to take the lead. Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa, and Deborah Chow have also been attached to direct episodes of the series.

Was there someone else under the helmet in the photo Lucasfilm revealed? We just know Pascal is an excellent actor with a unique presence and we're all for him hunting down and shooting people all across the galaxy. The other, a Rogue One prequel series, stars Diego Luna reprising his role as Cassian Andor.

Production on "The Mandalorian" is expected to get underway in early 2019 with a late 2019 debut date expected on Disney+. Minor changes have been made to reflect this.
