Trump Attacks Mueller One Week After Replacing Attorney General

"The White House is running very smoothly and the results for our Nation are obviously very good", Trump tweeted the morning after media reports he was upset with election results, angry about his disastrous trip to Paris, and generally "pissed - at damn near everyone" as CNN quoted a White House insider. A new president from a new party taking over would have to keep the entire senior staff of the opposition party, and units like U.S. Attorney Offices would shut down completely because none of the dozens of career prosecutors in the office would be constitutionally eligible to take over their cases when the only Senate-confirmed official - the partisan U.S. attorney appointed by the former president - leaves or is fired by the new president. "They are screaming and shouting at people, horribly threatening them to come up with the answers they want", Trump wrote on Twitter.

He says the inquiry is a "witch hunt".

The letters represent an opening salvo of how House Democrats plan to investigate the Trump administration when they take over in January.

Since the firing of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and the appointment of former U.S. Attorney Andrew Whitaker as his acting replacement, Democrats have been panicking over the fate of Robert Mueller's Special Counsel probe.

In a series of tweets Thursday, the president accused Hillary Clinton and her campaign of conspiring with Russian Federation to win the 2016 election before asking why the Federal Bureau of Investigation still hasn't taken the DNC's hacked server.

"Why is he protecting Crooked Hillary, Comey, McCabe, Lisa Page & her lover, Peter S, and all of his friends on the other side?"

On Wednesday, Republican Senator Jeff Flake, a critic of the president, and Democratic Senator Chris Coons attempted to introduced a measure to protect Mueller, but it was blocked by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. In 2011, the Senate voted unanimously to extend Mueller's tenure for two more years.

As a result, they've called into question the constitutionality of Whitaker's appointment and have argued President Trump doesn't have the authority to appoint a non-Senate confirmed individual to the acting attorney general position.
