The US Treasury has imposed sanctions on 17 people, including close aides of Prince Mohammed, while Germany imposed similar measures on Monday. "There would be a much bigger global outcry", Farage told Fox News.

Donald Trump ranged himself against his own intelligence community on Thursday, disputing that the CIA had "concluded" that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was responsible for the death of the journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

A demonstrator dressed as Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman holds up a bone saw outside the White House in Washington, DC, on October 19, 2018, as protesters demand justice for Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

In a formal statement Tuesday - released just after almost the entire White House press corps had left to cover the lighthearted annual ritual of the president sparing a turkey from the Thanksgiving table - Trump said the prince "could very well be" in on the crime.

The president spoke a week after The Washington Post first reported that the agency had assessed that the Saudi crown prince did order the murder.

Cavusoglu wouldn't confirm a Turkish media report claiming the Central Intelligence Agency has an audio recording of a telephone conversation in which the crown prince gave instructions to silence Khashoggi.

But keeping up the worldwide pressure on Riyadh; Denmark on Thursday suspended arms sales to Saudi Arabia over the murder, the second country to do so after Germany.

"In a way, Mr. Trump's statement means, 'Come what may, I will turn a blind eye on this.' This approach is wrong".

The crown prince is also expected to participate in a G20 meeting of world leaders in Buenos Aires, Argentina, at the end of the month that will be attended by leaders from the US, Turkey and a number of European countries.

"The crown prince must bring an end to the violence and restore the dignity of the birthplace of Islam".

They tasked a group of 50 lawyers to file a complaint with the Tunisian courts to oppose the visit, lawyer Nizar Boujlel said. "We should not distance ourselves from human values", Cavusoglu told CNN Turk. We've watched the Saudis actually move in that direction during our time in office as well.

Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir on Wednesday said criticism of Prince Mohammed is a "red line", and that calls for him to be held accountable for the murder would not be tolerated.
