CNN fires analyst Marc Lamont Hill after United Nations speech on Israel

The draft General Assembly resolution, obtained by The Associated Press, "demands that Hamas and other militant actors including Palestinian Islamic Jihad cease activity, including by using airborne incendiary devices".

It was circulated Thursday as the 193-member world body was preparing to vote on four pro-Palestinian resolutions. "That means condemning Hamas, not 20 resolutions condemning Israel". The Gaza Strip, from which Israel withdrew unilaterally in 2005, is now governed by the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas, which has fired thousands of rockets at Israeli civilians.

"This is disgusting", tweeted former U.S. Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro.

Some used the news of Lamont's firing to attack CNN. The resolution was then approved by a vote of 120-8 with 45 abstentions.

Greenwald added that Hill's ouster lays bare the fact that in the boundaries of discourse established by the corporate media, "it's forbidden" to acknowledge that the so-called "two-state solution" is unviable because "illegal Israeli settlements have grown so rapidly and have eaten up so much Palestinian land in the West Bank that such a solution is now essentially impossible".

Israeli Ambassador Danny Danon told reporters US diplomats were in talks with their European Union counterparts on the draft text.

"Palestine is ours, from the river to the sea and from the south to the north", said Meshaal in a speech before tens of thousands of cheering supporters at a "victory" rally in Gaza City in 2012.

Harvard Law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz, who has debated Hill on CNN over Israel, told JNS: "It's an anti-Semitic screed that should disqualify him from being taken seriously".

Hill's apparent call for Jewish genocide shocked Jewish journalists like Commentary's Seth Mandel.

The statement said "more fundamentally, it is premised on the values of freedom, justice and humanitarian principles that Africa defends in worldwide fora alongside all those striving to ensure that Palestine regains its right to exist as a key State in a region considered the cradle of humanity, religions and prophets, a region that the world has the obligation to preserve".

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres offers a press conference on November 29, 2018 in Buenos Aires.

"They do not lead the Palestinians forward to the future but keep them locked in the past". In response, Hamas leader Ismael Haniyyeh sent an open letter to UNGA member states contending that targeting Israeli population centers with missiles is permissible under global law and denouncing the Jewish state's "occupation" that spans "more than seven decades", meaning since its establishment in 1948.
