She admitted that she "enthusiastically and willingly" responded to the texts.

As many strides as the #MeToo and Time's Up movements have made in a short time, they still have a long way to go. I was just there to serve him.

In her television interview, Stone said she was speaking out to help change behavior in the entertainment industry, which has lost several leading figures over the past year to allegations of sexual harassment and assault.

Additionally, Stone claimed that Rush once danced "totally naked" in front of her in her dressing room in a "playful, clownish manner", after a performance, while she was removing her makeup. "This, most certainly, has never been my intention", he added.

Geoffrey Rush denied the allegations against him.

"I think when I reflect upon the professional set-up of this whole situation, there really is no avenue for me [to address it] at that time", she said.

"When we performed in The Diary Of A Madman 8 years ago, I believe we engaged in a journey as artistic comrades", Rush said in his statement to the Times about Stone.

In a statement, Rush disputed her claims as "incorrect and in some instances, completely out of context". "Whenever women particularly speak about issues like this, their career generally suffers", said Stone.

"I know I have truth on my side", Stone said in a phone call to the publication. Performing a play in Sydney about a clerk under the Russian czars, Stone said the older man would text her into the night, sharing a playful but increasingly sexual banter that made her feel deeply uncomfortable.

Ms Stone told the Times she was "embarrassed by the ways she participated" in the text conversations with Rush, best known for his roles in blockbuster films Shine and The King's Speech. Over the years we have shared correspondence that always contained a mutual respect and admiration.

Academy award-winner Geoffrey Rush is facing fresh allegations of inappropriate behaviour by an actress, amid his defamation battle with an Australian newspaper over separate claims.

He also claimed, "I abhor any behavior that might be considered as harassment or intimidation to anyone-whether in the workplace or any other environment".

In December 2017, Rush also faced allegations of misconduct after Sydney's The Daily Telegraph accused the 67-year-old of behaving inappropriately toward actress Eryn Jean Norvill during the Sydney Theatre Company's production of "King Lear" in 2015 and 2016.

Stone said she's been silent about her allegations because of several factors, including losing friends and being shut down by Australia's defamation laws.

Rush is now embroiled in a high-profile defamation case against the Rupert Murdoch-owned Australian tabloid newspaper the Daily Telegraph over a series of articles published in November and December 2017.
