Real Madrid vs. Al-Ain - Football Match Report

Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid on Saturday, December 22, defeated United Arab Emirates club Al Ain FC 4-1 in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup.

The Spanish side's win was not without the help of impressive distance strikes in either half from midfielders Luka Modric and Marcos Llorente.

Real Madrid's home-grown midfielder Marcos Llorente doubled the European champions lead on the hour mark with a superbly-struck volley from outside the area.

Yahia Nader put through his own net in injury time as Real comfortably claimed their 11th win in 13 games and a first trophy since Solari took over from the sacked Julen Lopetegui in October.

Santiago Solari's men have become the first team in competition history to win the tournament four times and celebrated wildly at the final whistle at the Zayed Sports City Stadium.

A second goal always looked likely to arrive sooner rather than later, with Modric denied by an excellent save from Al Ain goalkeeper Khalid Eisa. Then, a mistake by Marcelo left El Sahat alone to round Courtois, only for Ramos to hustle back and block his shot on the line.

A minute later the Champions League winners were in front as Vazquez delivered the ball from the right, Karim Benzema touched it to Modric and the Croatia global curled a shot into the bottom corner from just outside the box. It has three more world titles than the next best, AC Milan. Lucas Vazquez hit the post early on and Gareth Bale - who scored a semi-final hat-trick against Kashima Antlers - went close with a spectacular bicycle kick which went just over the bar.
