Winter Storm from Christmas Eve Into Christmas Day

Skies will become partly sunny in the afternoon with highs in the lower 40s.

"It will certainly be a white Christmas in every aspect for all of Manitoba", said Scott.

Tonight and Tomorrow: Mostly clear skies tonight, and light northerly winds will allow temperatures to plummet quickly through the evening and overnight period.

I would say this is a great way to get a little Christmas snow without all the headaches of a big storm. But, it finally looks as if there is some agreement about our prospects for some Christmas snow as we close in on the holiday. Scott added that travel conditions should be fine as winds are low and temperatures will be around -11 C.

That system brings us colder weather for the rest of the week.

Light snow early Monday across northern Utah is expected to taper off by mid-morning, according to the NWS.

On Friday, we will start with rain, but then work into a dry slot of the system and be mostly dry for the second half of the day. The tail end of the work week will also see temperatures getting towards the 50 degree mark again - which is why I'm forecasting rain, not snow.

A white Christmas is quite rare, especially in England, and snow falling on the day is even rarer.

While Western Washington saw a rare snowfall on Christmas last year, the chances of that happening this year are "zero", Burke said.

Locally higher amounts up to 4 inches are possible where snow showers persist downwind of lakes Erie and Ontario for much of Christmas Eve.

Significant changes are set to arrive later this week.
