Broncos hire Vic Fangio as new head coach

You know, we've been the No. 1 defense here [in Denver]... we've been at that [level] before.

The Broncos have reached an agreement with Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio to become the team's next head coach, ESPN reported , citing unidentified sources.

Fangio's cause in Chicago was buoyed by the presence of outside linebacker Khalil Mack and rookie inside linebacker Roquan Smith. As a defense, the Broncos ranked eighth in the league with 44 sacks.

"It is bittersweet to move on", Nagy said in a statement. It was a busy Wednesday in the National Football League which saw the Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos and New York Jets all fill the head coaching vacancies within their organization.

But upon further review, taking into account the potential importance of meshing with Gary Kubiak, who could make his way back to the sidelines this season, Stokley said his money is on Fangio getting the job. "Ultimately, [general manager] John Elway and [de facto owner] Joe Ellis got someone that they think can get us into the win column as much as possible - and I think [Fangio's] that guy", Parks said. "I'm ready to work right now". "I look for greatness on that side".

Elway said earlier this month Kubiak would be with the team for the coming season and that it could include a return to the coaching staff. It doesn't hurt that they're bringing former Super Bowl winning head coach Gary Kubiak back as their new offensive coordinator (17:35). "So, when I'm looking at players, I know what a good player looks like because these guys set the bar high".
