Tony Beckham, a former National Football League defensive back, jumped into action when he discovered a peeping Tom outside his 15-year-old daughter's window. He said the man's trousers were down, and he was touching himself.
"I couldn't believe it", he said.
That's when Beckham said he made a decision to have a "good conversation" with the man, 48-year-old Geoffrey Cassidy. "I thought I was getting 'Punk'd'". "I'm sorry that it happened to him", Beckham said. Cassidy, whom police say has an OH driver's license, described himself as a transient.
Sheriff's deputies said that the "conversation" left Cassidy with a right second zygomatic arch fracture and fracture to the right medial orbital wall/lamina papyracea.
A photo taken in Palm Beach County Jail shows the results of a tussle between Cassidy and Beckham as the latter waited for law enforcement to show up.
The incident occurred on Monday morning at Beckham's apartment in Palm Beach County, Florida.
"I'm sorry that it happened to me".
Beckham, 40, tackled the alleged "Peeping Tom" and held him down until police arrived at carted him off to the hospital suffering from multiple broken bones.
"I don't know if this is his first time coming here or if he's been here before or where he's seen us or how he picked us out", Amanda Beckham said. "He's never going to do that again on this side of town".
Beckham spent five seasons in the National Football League as a cornerback for the Tennessee Titans and Detroit Lions. He spent the first five years of his career with the Titans, who selected him in the fourth round of the 2002 draft.
