The Charlotte region has a 40 percent chance of snow Tuesday night, mainly before 11 p.m., with a predicted low of 22 degrees and wind chills in the teens, said the National Weather Service Monday morning.
Monday's chill precedes another cold day Tuesday, which will likely include snow showers across MA, forecasters expect. Models just now are getting a good grasp on this system and unfortunately, it means lower totals for most in snow. A steady, light snow lasts through about 6 P.M. Some mixing with sleet and rain is possible to the southeast of Harrisburg, and this will cut into potential snow accumulations.
When it comes to snow chances, you can see the GFS ensembles do show snow (blue), and rain (green) chances ahead. Winds could gust as high as 30 miles per hour. Lows zero to 5 above.
Wednesday: Partly sunny with a chance of snow showers.
The high temperature Tuesday should only reach minus 13 degrees and drop to minus 32 in the evening with gusty northwest winds averaging 15 to 18 miles per hour. Highs around 5 above. A broad swath of minus 50-degree and colder wind chills will present life-threatening conditions, he said. Wind: S 10 miles per hour. Wind chill values as low as 30 below.
THURSDAY: Partly cloudy and cool. By the weekend, the high is forecast to be in the low 50s. The best snow chances will be during the morning commute.
