Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul suspended over comments on ‘Koffee with Karan’

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have suspended both Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul till the completion of the enquiry for their inappropriate comments.

He also shared that he openly identifies the women he sleeps with to his parents: "At a party my parents asked me acha tera wala (women) kaun sa hai (Which are your women)?" But looks like today, the actress was in no mood to have fun and instead, posted a message on her social media channel taking a rather sly dig at Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya and K L Rahul. On the show, he also said how he informed his parents that he lost his virginity in a amusing manner. Rules were even changed to benefit particular individuals to allow them to allow inter-state transfer which was severely condemned and decried by those present.

From passing off misogyny with a chuckle and laugh to letting it air with no holds a bar, the one to be blamed then is not exclusively Hardik Pandya.

'And I actually had to tell them. "If they can book tickets then tomorrow they will be leaving (for India) or latest by day after", a senior BCCI official said.

Hardik has since issued a statement on Twitter, where he said, "After reflecting on my comments on Koffee with Karan, I would like to apologise to everyone concerned who I may have hurt in any way. Respect." However, neither social media users nor the BCCI thought that his "apology" was enough.

After the Indian team skipper Virat Kohli expressed his disapproval on the players' behaviour on the show, it was ace spinner Harbhajan Singh's turn next to slam the cricketers.

The length of their suspensions is not known, but the duo look set to miss the one-day global series in Australia, starting today, and the limited-overs tour of New Zealand.

"The two players concerned have realised what has gone wrong and they have understood the magnitude of what has happened", he added.

"The BCCI did the right thing, and this is also the way forward".

Kohli's side sealed its first Test series victory in Australia this week when the fourth match ended in a draw. While Gill will join the squad only for the New Zealand tour that comprises of five ODIs and three T20Is, Vijay will be joining the team ahead of the second ODI of the ongoing series against Australia.
