Glenn Close won the award for outstanding performance by a leading actress for her performance in "The Wife" at the 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night.

Star Chadwick Boseman talked about the cultural significance of the film's success and referenced the Nina Simone song, "To be Young, Gifted and Black".

"Almost a year ago, movie-lovers were transported to Wakanda, and the guest response to "Black Panther" was unlike anything our industry has seen before", said Adam Aron, CEO and president of AMC.

Amazon also had a good night.

Green Book did take home one SAG award. Though nothing is guaranteed, it appears that Rami may be on track for winning the Academy Award when the awards are held on February 24, 2019.

In his acceptance speech he said: "Wow - this just seems extraordinary to me when I look at the actors I'm nominated with, truly".

This is Us, on Comcast Corp's NBC, won best ensemble cast for a television drama. Each of the other actors has been nominated for multiple awards and he will compete against all of them except for John David Washinton.

"The entire experience of doing this with you has completely pierced my heart directly", Emily said of working with her husband. "You are a stunning filmmaker".

"When we made this film the #MeToo movement didn't even exist - and for women like my mom, as I mentioned at the Golden Globes, feminism was not in their sensibility", she said.

This evening, the Marvel movie won the Best Cast Ensemble Prize, the SAG Awards' equivalent to the Academy Awards' Best Picture.

Tom Hanks presented the award to Alda, calling him Alphonso Joseph D'Abruzzo, the name he was given when he was born the son of an actor in the Bronx in 1936. The 83-year-old actor took the stage to a standing ovation while the theme to M.A.S.H. played.

"It may never have been more urgent than to see the world through another person's eyes than when a culture is divided so sharply". Hopefully "Black Panther" will be remembered as a meaningful turning point in Hollywood, buoyed by all of the 2018 releases amplifying the stories we need to see told, and marking just the beginning of what's to come. And the nice part is it's fun to do it.
