TIMELINE: When Can You Expect Wintry Mix, Possibly Snow This Week?

The amount of snow, sleet, and freezing rain the storm will bring will develop over the next few days, forecasters said.

"Plan on slippery road conditions and sidewalks", the National Weather Service cautioned. Overall, in Philly and the immediate suburbs in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, we should look for about 1-inch of wet slushy snow to accumulate.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for all of MA, excluding the Cape and the Islands, from Saturday afternoon to Sunday evening.

No advisories or warnings or alerts have been issued as of 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Some rugged winter conditions are expected for much of western NY and the Finger Lakes heading into the weekend, and lasting into the first part of next week.

Lake-effect snow is expected to follow the main snowstorm Saturday night in some areas, as blowing and drifting snow hits most of northeast IL. However, ice accumulation on top of the snow will create slick conditions for drivers.

The snow will become heavy at times north and west of the city and begin mixing with rain over Long Island and coastal New Jersey.

South Jersey and DE can expect to see mostly rain Thursday into Friday. In Baltimore. we won't see the precipitation move in until Thursday evening. Blowing snow will still be expected during the afternoon and evening of Saturday and wind will die down by early Sunday.

The final part of our wintry stretch will come Sunday afternoon into Monday as temperatures fall from the 40s into the teens overnight.

The high temperature on Monday is expected to only be around 14 degrees, not counting any possible wind chill factor.
