Wizards G reportedly will have season-ending heel surgery

The team would later announce that Wall will undergo a debridement and fix of a Haglund's deformity and a chronic Achilles tendon injury in his left heel. His numbers would likely increase even more without Wall. Recovery could sideline the point guard for six months.

The issue has plagued Wall for over a year and doctors decided the procedure was necessary for the star playmaker, according to ESPN.

On Friday, head coach Scott Brooks told reporters that Wall was off to see a specialist as early as Saturday to examine the bone spurs in his left heel. On Saturday, Wall met with specialist Dr. Robert Anderson, who recommended the surgery.

Brooks would not speculate on the severity of the injury. He also underwent surgeries on both knees in 2016.

Practically, the current season is over and a lost cause.

Wall will earn a base salary of $19.2 million this season. The third-year player has been a go-to fill-in for injured Wizards starters this season thanks to his versatility and decision-making. Trevor Ariza ($15 million) and Markieff Morris ($8.6 million) are the most practical to be moved due to their expiring contracts. As is the case every year, the team has been inconsistent in their play.
