Ben Affleck hangs up cape as ‘The Batman seeks young Bruce Wayne

As per reports, the movie is all set to release on June 25, 2021, and it will revolve around the life of younger Bruce Wayne and that could be one of the reasons why Affleck is not reprising the role. After signing on to play the role in August 2013, Affleck only starred in two movies-Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League-and had a brief cameo in Suicide Squad. Warner Bros., Affleck, and new director Matt Reeves, best known for the recent Planet of the Apes films were all silent on the matter. Reeves is now casting for a new, "younger" actor to play Batman/Bruce Wayne. After revivifying his career by directing "The Town" and "Gone Baby Gone", and receiving his second Oscar (for co-producing 2013 best-picture victor "Argo"), he chose to enter the DC superhero universe. It's more Batman in his detective mode than we've seen in the films. Even bigger news is that Ben Affleck will not be returning as The Caped Crusader, and the movie will instead focus on a younger Bruce Wayne. Deadline reports that "a search is underway" for a new Dark Knight.

Rumors have been circulating for years that Affleck will not be playing Batman in the next film, due to hit theaters summer 2021. "I learned a long time ago that because people love Batman, I should too". What's exciting about Batman is how it relates to now and also how personal it can be. "The comics have a history of that", he said.

And while those are two well-known facets of the caped crusader, it's also good to remember that takes way more than that to be a great lead for the upcoming Batman film. He is such an iconic and compelling character, and one that resonates with me deeply. Don't dance around Henry Cavill's future with "he's still our guy...it's just we have no immediate plans to make a movie with him". "Obviously, we're not doing an origin tale or anything like that".

Things took a darker turn in 1989 with the release of the first instalment of Warner Bros' original Batman series.
