Ex-Lions captain Strauss urges Scotland to match England's physicality versus Ireland

HAVING beaten Ireland at Murrayfield two years ago, Scotland would have been entirely confident of coming up with a winning strategy for Saturday's match even before the first round of Six Nations games last weekend.

Lions No 8 Stander is out of
Ireland's next two games after suffering facial fractures in the champions' chastening Guinness Six Nations opener to England in Dublin. "Because England were tackling in twos the dominance of their defence was insane, so we'll be looking to do the same". The returning British and Irish Lion Sean O'Brien replaces Josh van der Flier in the back row.

'Also England picked the right opportunities to counter-ruck.

But Ireland are definitely the biggest test of Scotland's run of seven wins in a row at home in the championship, at least since last year's Calcutta Cup game. They're really smart around the field and we have to be like that, too'. We've got to start well like they did and be physical with Ireland, exactly like England were.

"We need to raise it, we know that". They might have to change their tactics if they end up chasing the game because we're far enough ahead.

Wilson added: "It's something we talk about in that changing room, how we're representing our country and we're in front of our home nation, and the need to do something for the fans who sell out that stadium over and over again. That is something we're focusing on".

"If we get back to the accuracy that we can bring, we're confident we can bring the performance as well". We've done our review on Italy. James Ryan will start in the second-row alongside either Ultan Dillane or Quinn Roux, with the one who misses out getting the place on the bench.
