Hulk Hogan biopic to star Avengers' Chris Hemsworth

Sandy-haired Australian icon Chris Hemsworth is set to star as Hulk Hogan, one of professional wrestling's biggest stars, in an upcoming biopic, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Hollywood Reporter claims the biopic will not try to encompass Hogan's entire life, but will instead focus on his rise and is described as an origin story of the Hulkster and Hulkamania.

The movie will apparently focus on Hulk Hogan's rise to fame as wrestler, who then became a national celebrity known to people who never even watched a minute of World Wrestling Federation.

The yet-untitled project comes from director Todd Phillips (The Hangover) and writer Scott Silver (The Fighter).

Hulk Hogan's Main Event anyone?

The famous red and yellow attire, coupled with his unforgettable catch phrases made him a global megastar, propelling WWE to new heights. Hogan himself will reportedly serve as a consultant and receive an executive producer credit on the movie, which is apparently close to a deal with streaming giant Netflix.

Hogan, 65, began his career in the late 1970s on the Florida wrestling circuit. If you've seen that movie, you know exactly what I'm talking about. So maybe don't expect to see anything about the sex tape scandal and subsequent lawsuit against Gawker, as much as that would make a hell of an American Crime Story style film. Hemsworth and Eric Bischoff are also listed as producers. What is a bit more surprising, mind you, is the actor set to inhabit the role of Hogan is Australia's own Chris Hemsworth.
