Callum Hudson-Odoi 'will stay' with Chelsea - Sarri

Callum Hudson-Odoi 'will stay' with Chelsea - Sarri

Chelsea are becoming increasingly hopeful that Callum Hudson-Odoi will sign a new contract at the club.

The 18-year-old's Chelsea contract expires in the summer of 2020, and the Blues rebuffed a £35million bid from Bayern Munich back in January.

The Blues face Cardiff in Wales on Sunday as the Premier League returns after the global window, in which Hudson-Odoi won his first two senior England caps.

"I don't like to speak to him about this problem". "I'm not able to say if he's going to sign a new contract or not, but I think he will stay here with us in every case".

Asked if he expects Hudson-Odoi to be at Chelsea next term, Sarri said: "I think so, I think so".

The future of Eden Hazard may also play a role, with the Belgium global being linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Sarri, who was speaking at a news conference on Friday, spoke adamantly about the fact that Hudson-Odoi would stay with Chelsea.

Despite Cardiff occupying the last spot in the relegation zone, Neil Warnock's men head into the game with real confidence, having beaten West Ham in their last outing. In the squad we have Hazard, Willian, Pedro, so it's not really very easy to start in every match here.

He revealed his intention to do so, saying: "We have to play eight matches in 28 days, so he will start in two or three matches".

"In the last season, Callum was only 17 and he played three or four matches".

"Probably he will play 30 or 35 matches in the right season".

But Sarri said: "We need a rule I think". "I saw him very well yesterday, he is strong. He did very well on the left immediately but I know him very well, and I know he prefers to play on the left".

Sarri admitted that he only watched 20 minutes of his winger's full global debut as England came from a goal down to beat Montenegro 5-1, adding: "I had 14 players in the national teams - I had no time to watch 20 matches". And so I don't want him to stop improving.

It comes after the winger was also abused by Dynamo Kiev fans during the recently Europa League tie in Ukraine.
