Mueller report finds no collusion between Trump campaign and Russian government

The special counsel, who has been investigating allegations of Russian collusion in the 2016 presidential campaign for nearly two years, turned in his completed report to Attorney General William Barr on March 22.

After consulting with other department officials, Barr said he and his deputy, Rod Rosenstein, determined the evidence "is not sufficient to establish that the president committed an obstruction of justice offence".

Special counsel Robert Mueller III did not find that Donald Trump's campaign or any of his associates conspired with Russian Federation in its efforts to interfere in the 2016 election, according to a summary of Mueller's findings sent to lawmakers Sunday. The attorney general cautioned that while Mueller's report "does not conclude that the president committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him" on obstruction of justice.

Still, Trump tweeted the opposite.

When it comes to whether President Donald Trump obstructed justice, special counsel Robert Mueller drew no conclusion at all. Barr released a summary of the report on Sunday, explaining that Mueller found no evidence of 'Russian collusion, ' and insufficient evidence of obstruction of justice.

"By those words themselves, this is not an exoneration", said Harry Sandick, a former assistant USA attorney for the Southern District of NY.

The question Democrats must answer is whether they can hold the Trump administration to account without being swallowed by their personal revulsion for the president.

The Democrats are unlikely to go down without a fight and have demanded the release of the entire Mueller report.

Likewise, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer said Mr.

Nadler noted that Barr "made a decision" to not charge the President with obstruction of justice "in under 48 hours". They insisted that even the summary by the president's attorney general hardly put him in the clear.

Mueller had a "very narrow mandate" to investigate possible collusion between the White House and Russian Federation, but the oversight committee "retains unlimited jurisdiction and may consider the available evidence beyond the collusion context", the Boston Democrat said in a statement Sunday.

"I don't want a summary of the Mueller report". "And certainly unprecedented for an attorney general who campaigned for the role by saying presidents can hardly ever commit obstruction of justice". "I want the full report", said Skardon, 30, who works in economic development. Toward the final stretch of the presidential campaign, with Trump's poll numbers falling, Clapper wrote that Russian Federation shifted its position away from purportedly aiding Trump and focused mainly on opposing Clinton, even allegedly providing Green Party candidate Jill Stein with more favorable coverage.

Federal prosecutors in NY are investigating hush-money payments made to two women during the 2016 campaign who claim they had sex with Trump.

Trump supporters viewed the Mueller report as a blow to the more than a dozen Democrats who are campaigning for their party's 2020 presidential nomination.

"As a lawyer, you don't waive privileges and you don't waive investigative detail absent either a court order or an agreement between the parties", Sekulow said on CNN, adding that Barr would make the final decision on what to release.

While Mr Mueller's team backed the assessment of US intelligence agencies that Russian Federation worked to help Mr Trump win the 2016 election, it concluded the president's team did not collude with Moscow.

In the months ahead there's little doubt "no collusion, no obstruction" will be a central part of Trump's messaging, especially given that a multitude of probes into his political and personal affairs - unconnected to the Russian Federation investigation - will continue. "Congress and the public need to see the FULL #MuellerReport IMMEDIATELY", U.S. Sen. "Well, if there was nothing in the report why won't they just release it? Let it come out, let people see it. Let's see whether or not it's legit". As soon as Barr's letter arrived, Pelosi quickly convened a call on Sunday with Cummings, Schiff and Nadler to go over its main points.

It's unclear what else is coming from Barr, though he states in the letter that he is working to make more information public.

Seeking to answer the collusion question, Mueller has also scrutinized the anti-secrecy group WikiLeaks, which released batches of Democrats' emails that US investigators say were stolen by Russian intelligence officers.
