As per 9to5Mac, sources claim a new [codenamed] "GreenTorch" app is amidst testing, with the view of replacing 'Find My iPhone'.
Apple is planning to combine its Find my iPhone and Find my Friends services into a single app and open it up to non-Apple devices with a new hardware product that can track you.
The application will incorporate the best-loved features of Find My Friends - like location sharing - with a new user interface and, for the first time, will support macOS via Apple's new Marzipan cross-platform application API.
That's according to a new 9to5Mac report, which also adds that the unified app would have another ability besides being able to remotely wipe a device. The application is apparently created to be able to track all the devices in your network in one place, with the option to see the location of your friends and family in real time, as well. The app will also allow you to set up notifications for when a friend visits or leaves a certain location. Users will also be able to create "ignored" locations where proximity alerts won't fire off, and share tag locations with friends and family members.
Furthermore, Apple is also expected to launch a new product, now codenamed B389. Apple's trackers will save your contact information, and if you put the tag in "lost mode", anyone who finds it can use an iPhone to get your info.
Apple is reportedly working on a companion physical tracking tag - similar to Tile - which can be paired to a user's iCloud account. You can get notifications when your iPhone gets too far away from the tag, so it will be easy to find again. Apparently, the developers of Apple and insiders have confirmed the availability of the new Find My iPhone and Find My Friends app, however, they want to keep the details anonymous for now.
