Let’s be very clear: Sarah Sanders lied to Robert Mueller

On Thursday night Ryan used CNN's platform to stress that Sanders should resign after the Robert Mueller's Special Counsel report found that Sanders admitted to lying to the press about why President Trump fired former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey in 2017.

Sanders made similar claims multiple times on two different days. The report also notes that Sanders told investigators her misleading claims were simply a "slip of the tongue".

So there it is - "not founded on anything" - a remarkable admission from a government official who is paid to communicate accurately with the public.

In November 2017, a dispute arose surrounding a tweet from Sarah Huckabee Sanders in which she showed off an allegedly homemade chocolate pecan pie.

Pope said the episodes raise questions about why any reporter would attend Sanders' briefings, which she has scaled back from daily to about monthly, or "put stock" in what she says. "She out and out lied". Stelter said, "Sarah Sanders is a press secretary with zero credibility".

"The game is risky because she is lying to the American public". And the people, the American people can't trust her.

"Sarah plays a unsafe game in that room", Ryan said of the room on White House grounds where Sanders holds her press conferences.

Sanders stopped holding daily press briefings a year ago.

"Firing James Comey remains one of the best decisions that the president made", Sanders told Hannity.

Therefore, she should be let go, she should be fired, ' Ryan said on CNN Friday, the day after Special Counsel Robert Mueller's redacted version of the Russian Federation report was made public.

The next day, May 11, Sanders went even further.

The long-awaited report - the product of a two-year investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 United States election and the Trump campaign - exposed a culture of lying at the White House.

Sanders responded: "Well, I can speak to my own personal experience". And I think that we may have to agree to disagree. A slip of the tongue is something you do by accident, unintentionally. No reputable news outlet should host her.

"I think it just once again proves why this journalist isn't taken seriously", she said.

"The President told Comey at their January 27 dinner that 'the people of the Federal Bureau of Investigation really like (him),' no evidence suggests that the President heard otherwise before deciding to terminate Comey, and Sanders acknowledged to investigators that her comments were not founded on anything", the report said.

"James Comey was a disgraced leaker and used authorization to spy on the Trump campaign despite no evidence of collusion", she said.
