Legendary Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger said yesterday he is "on the mend" after reportedly undergoing heart valve replacement surgery in NY - news that gave his legions of fans a fright.
The Rolling Stones have postponed their 2019 "No Filter" tour of the US and Canada, due to an undisclosed medical illness to Mick Jagger.
Jagger's heart procedure, officially called a transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), is commonly carried out in place of open-heart surgery and recovery from such an operation is typically easier and shorter.
The band postponed their tour of the USA and Canada after Jagger was advised by doctors that he needed medical treatment. According to his representatives, Jagger is expected to make a full recovery.
Many news outlets are now reporting that Jagger has successfully completed his surgery and is now recovering.
On Saturday, Jagger took to his Twitter account to apologize to all of the American and Canadian fans who wouldn't get out to see him and the rest of the band.
Dano in Phoenix writes he's in limbo "not knowing for certain how long the Rolling Stones concert is postponed for or canceled". I really hate letting you down like this. "Once again, huge apologies to everyone", Jagger said.
The Rolling Stones frontman had previously apologised to fans for having to postpone tour dates due to illness.
Sir Mick - whose eldest child, Karis Jagger, is 48-years-old - is also a grandfather to five children and, in 2014, he became a great-grandfather for the first time.
Although the band was able to salvage their tour, one appearance that the band will not be unable to make is Jazz Fest in New Orleans.
