Holder is wanted for homicide. I respect and admire your career path and what you did for the neighborhood.

Investigators were also looking for the woman, Moore said.

Los Angeles police officer Jeffrey Lee says 29-year-old Eric Holder was captured Tuesday in Bellflower, a Los Angeles-area city about 20 miles southeast of where Hussle was gunned down two days earlier. Police said Holder knew Nipsey, and they had allegedly gotten into a dispute before the murder.

Police noted that the "the community is the one who is helping us solve this case". Authorities urged that Hussle's killing not be followed by more violence.

Hussle's death came just one day before he had plans to meet with the president of the Los Angeles Board of Police Commissioners and the city's chief of police to "to talk about ways he could help stop gang violence and help us help kids".

"Our people are on scene making every effort 2 protect everyone in attendance at the Nipsey Hussle vigil", LAPD Chief Michel Moore said on Twitter. It's unclear what caused the crowd to flee, but Los Angeles police spokeswoman Meghan Aguilar described it to CNN affiliate KCAL/KCBS as "absolutely chaotic, mass panic".

On Monday night, a massive crowd gathered on the streets of south Los Angeles for a memorial to the rapper, which ended abruptly when multiple people were trampled and police - armed with riot gear and batons - began forming containment lines.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department told the paper that at least 19 injured people, two in critical condition, were transported by first responders.

Two other people suffered serious injuries and 15 had injuries that were considered non-life threatening.

"Our goal is to work with the department to help improve communication, relationships and work towards changing the culture and dialogue between LAPD and your city", the email said.

Following Hussle's tragic and untimely death, celebrities from both the sports and entertainment world took to social media to pay tribute to the late "Victory Lap" rapper.

"It's been a tough few days for Los Angeles", Garcetti said.

The plan was part of Hussle's broader ambitions to remake the neighborhood where he grew up and attempt to break the cycle of gang life that lured him in when he was younger.
