2 injured in Colorado school shooting, police say

Authorities believe at least two people were injured in a shooting at a STEM School in Highlands Ranch, Colo. on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators say two suspects are in custody, and there is a search on campus for a possible third suspect. There is "tentatively" a third suspect, Nicholson-Kluth said.

"We are making all of our public safety resources available to assist the Douglas County Sheriff's Department in their effort to secure the site and evacuate the students".

The school has about 1,800 students in grades K-12. More than 500 of those students are elementary age, ABC Denver affiliate KMGH reported.

They advised that the public should avoid the area; parents were advised to go to a nearby recreational center to pick up their children.

Fox News says that classrooms are being cleared at the school one by one.

The school was surrounded by first responders, Paulson said.

A Douglas County Sheriff's Office spokesperson said officers could still hear gunfire when law enforcement arrived. We are monitoring the situation in real time.

This is a developing story that will be updated.
