"Constance Wu appears upset at 'Fresh Off The Boat" renewal

The kerfuffle began last week, when ABC announced that "Fresh Off the Boat" would return.

While most television stars are generally, uhm, happy that they'll continue to be make loads of money being on TV, actress Constance Wu took to Twitter to express how deeply upset she was at the news.

It's not clear what upset Wu, who in the past year drew praise and a Golden Globe nomination for Crazy Rich Asians, a box-office hit. "Fuck", followed by "Fucking hell".

Wu wrote "No, it's not" in a since-deleted tweet responding to a fan who called the renewal "great news".

After hundreds of comments calling out Wu for her bratty behavior, the Crazy Rich Asian star has now elaborated on her tweets on Friday.

In a lengthy statement posted to her Twitter page Saturday, the actress says she loves her ABC sitcom but she was "temporarily upset yesterday" because its renewal means she will have to give up another project that she feels "really passionate" about.

"'FOTB' is a great show that I'm proud of and that I enjoy", she said mentioning that she knows her character, Jessica, "like the back of her hand" and playing her is "fun, easy and pleasant". She recently filmed the stripper movie Hustlers with Jennifer Lopez and Cardi B. But if one does have privilege, they ought to use that privilege as best they can. That might be true, but after reading her tweet (screenshotted below), it's hard to have any other interpretation. "For all the fans support, thank you and for all who support my casual use of the word f- thank you too", she added, making reference to her explicit use of language in the tweets. But I do love and enjoy it. Shows often get so much more expensive entering a season 7 or 8 and there may have only been so much of a shelf life here, especially with it sticking around on Friday night. "I do regret that and it wasn't nice and I am sorry for that". "Stop assuming." Later, when another Twitter user pointed out that Wu "literally said you were upset and crying over the renewal of a TV show you're in", she attempted to set the record straight. 'But I do love and enjoy it.

"People can hold conflicting feelings in their hearts - that conflict is a part of being human". I hope you believe me. I say f-- a lot. "You're making an assumption", she tweeted.
