Man charged in abduction of 8-year-old Texas girl

Police said Michael Webb, 51, was arrested on an aggravated kidnapping charge.

The child's mother managed to jump into the auto but was pushed out.

Surveillance video from a home in the Fort Worth suburb of Forest Hill showed Salem Sabatka being taken, reports CBS Dallas. And the smiles on the faces of adults of the Fort Worth neighborhood where, 24 hours earlier, panic reigned.

A Texas Amber Alert has been issued for 8-year-old Salem Sabatka after she was violently abducted on a street in Fort Worth, local officials say.

Salem was reportedly found in good condition but was taken to a local hospital to be checked out, Officer Buddy Calzada said at the press conference early Sunday.

Michael Webb is facing aggravated kidnapping charges.

Her mother tried desperately to hold on, jumping into the vehicle after her daughter but, police said, she was pushed out as the auto sped off with Salem.

"It's shaken our neighborhood", said Jennifer Lovelace, 42, a mother of two daughters, ages 8 and 3.

Calzada praised the two church members for their actions and the "phenomenal feeling" of helping to locate the child.

Shortly afterward, Salem was found safe in the hotel.

Those with information in Sabatka's disappearance are asked to call the Fort Worth Police Department at 817-392-4222.

A neighbour's doorbell camera captured the shocking footage.

The police officer also revealed that around 40 to 50 police officers all started to cheer and clap when they heard that the young girl had been found safe. The two church members, who have yet to be identified, had seen the photos on social media and made a decision to go out on their own to help authorities find the auto. "We had citizens that went out of their way and helped not just the police department, but a family put some great closure to what we had going on right now".
