Sue Smith speaks ahead of the women's FA Cup final - CBBC Newsround

WEST HAM UNITED'S ever-improving women's team take on their Manchester City counterparts in what is undoubtedly the biggest match in the clubs 28-year history as the pair go head-to-head in the SSE Women's FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday evening.

We caught up with former England player, Sue Smith, ahead of the game to get her match predictions.

Organisers are hoping the attendance for Saturday's final will surpass last year's record of 45,423, with around 52,000 tickets understood to have been issued so far.

Although Nick Cushing's City missed out on a domestic treble having guaranteed a second-place finish behind champions Arsenal in the Women's Super League, they could still finish the league season unbeaten.

Jack tips Adriana Leon to get the victor on Saturday, but he knows that it will just be a great day for women, adding: "We have Karren Brady and Tara Warren on our board and having the team in the cup final is making a great statement".

"We had a really busy summer where we brought in 16 new players and nine new backroom staff, and all these buildings [at their Rush Green training ground]". Besides pushing City close in January, the Hammers held Chelsea 1-1 at Kingsmeadow in March, ending Chelsea's chances of retaining the WSL title, and spent the season well clear of relegation worries.

We know for sure the 7-1 game isn't a true reflection of West Ham.

"Given it's our first year, staying in the league was our focus. It's a final, a one-off game, anyone can win".

Ex-England defenders Gilly Flaherty and Claire Rafferty played in Chelsea's 2015 Wembley triumph while Jane Ross (Scotland), Cho So-hyan (South Korea) and Adrianna Leon (Canada) are among several other experienced internationals. We're a team that feeds off the crowd's energy.

Back to football and preparations for Saturday's historic game.

The Hammers' men's side have a home game against Southampton on Saturday, but the club's plea to move the Premier League fixture to avoid a clash with the Women's FA Cup final was rejected.

"West Ham have grown throughout the season and while they maybe didn't start the season as they wanted to, they've had some good results and getting to the final is fantastic for them".

Nevertheless, West Ham Women's managing director Jack Sullivan told BBC London that they had sold 5,000 tickets for final, separate to those fans who have purchased "general sale" tickets.

"Whatever happens, I think everyone from the coaching staff, to the players and everyone behind the scenes deserves enormous credit for what they've managed to create here this year".
