The First 'Watchmen' TV Trailer Is Here

While the trailer is brief, it sets up a story that seems to be set after the events of the Watchmen graphic novel.

Clocks - specifically watches - are also associated with the character of Dr. Manhattan, whom HBO recently teased as being connected to the series in some way.

The mystery continues to unravel as Golden Globe victor Don Johnson (Miami Vice) emerges as the leader of the police force, the same ones decked out in yellow face masks - the same color as the signature yellow smiley face marred with a red blood streak that denotes Watchmen.

It could certainly be the way the trailer is cut together, but it seems like this group the vigilantes are coming up against are the police. "But they were just hibernating". While little is known about Regina King's role and the photo offers no further information, it does provide fans with a glimpse at the actress in her full vigilante costume. That image above was artificially brightened so I, and you, could see what was going on.

Sadly, the official series description, released in conjunction with the trailer, doesn't give any more hints as to what the series is about.

In the past, Lindelof has stated that his WATCHMEN will not be a direct adaptation of the Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons-created cult classic series, but rather a "remix" of the Watchmen world we all know and have come to love.

In addition to King, HBO's Watchmen cast includes Jean Smart (as Agent Blake) and Jeremy Irons (Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias) Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Adelaide Clemens, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, Lily Rose Smith, and Adelynn Spoon.

Watchmen is set to debut on HBO this fall.
