Head coach Steve Kerr said Durant would train with the team on Sunday for the first time in more than a month.
In a lighter moment after Monday's shootaround concluded, Kerr nailed a shot from halfcourt that drew cheers from Warriors players.
The news comes after the Warriors star practiced with his teammates for the first time since injuring his right calf May 8 against the Houston Rockets in the Western Conference semifinals. After the Warriors easily routed the Trail Blazers in the West finals without him, they've been unable to slow Kawhi Leonard & Co., who have pushed them to the brink.
"He's going to practice with us today", Kerr said prior to the practice.
While Durant was able to get some work in, it apparently wasn't much, according to Friedell. "We'll gauge it from there".
In 2016 the Warriors were famously on the wrong end of history when the Cavaliers came back from 3-1 down in the Finals to win their first Championship. "He's doing more today, and then we'll know more after that". On Sunday, Durant worked with some of the Warriors' young players to test how his calf would hold up.
In Game 3 of this series, Klay Thompson, nursing a hamstring injury, was dressed and available for the Warriors but never ended up seeing the floor. Without Kevin Durant in the lineup in the last four contests, the Golden State Warriors have managed only one victory, and by all accounts, it was a game the Raptors let slip away due to poor shooting. "We'll come in the arena with the right mindset".
Game 5 of the NBA Finals starts at 9:07 p.m. EST and will be played on ABC. The Warriors trail the Toronto Raptors 3-1 in the title series, meaning their quest for a third consecutive National Basketball Association championship could end Monday.
Going into the series, the Warriors were 31-1 in games in which Stephen Curry had played and Durant had not. The Raptors had been listed as high as 3.5-point favorites.
Following the Game 1 loss in Toronto, Bogut was asked about his ability to stay ready and perform when his number was called.
