Pattinson and Hoult Screen Testing for THE BATMAN

Warner Bros has approved Robert Pattinson as the star of The Batman, the trilogy of films that Matt Reeves will direct later this year, Deadline hears. Pattinson's agent did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Since his breakout role in the Twilight films, Pattinson has largely stayed away from blockbuster films.

It has already been revealed by director Matt Reeves in an earlier interview that the upcoming Batman movie is going to be different from the other movies and we can now surely guess what was he talking about.

(Gray News) - Robert Pattinson will be bringing the next iteration of Batman to life on the movie screen, according to Variety.

Although the studio liked both actors, it is said that Reeves' preference was for Pattinson, who has the Cannes film The Lighthouse opening later this year and will next co-star in Tenet for previous Batman filmmaker Christopher Nolan.

"This film will in no way carry on the work that Ben Affleck did as the older Batman in Batman Vs. Superman and Justice League". This makes him the second youngest actor to ever put on the Dark Knight's mask.

Robert Pattinson has already proven himself as a major star that is able to be at the forefront of an ultra-successful film franchise. However, Pattinson's days as a "sparkly vampire" in the Twilight series has also been frequently mentioned. He is now filming Tenet, the new film from a director with much Batman history of his own - The Dark Knight's Christopher Nolan.

The movie will come to theaters on June 25, 2021, and will start filming this summer.
