Vivo to Showcase 120W Ultra Fast Charging at MWC 2019 Shanghai

Earlier this week, VIVO released a teaser image on Weibo announcing it will participate in the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Shanghai that kicks off on June 26.

A teaser video * a href="**" *on Weibo gives us an early look at the insane 120W Super FlashCharge tech in action. While areas like performance, display and camera have been traditional arenas of competition, companies have recently begun exploring new charging technologies to allow users even lesser downtime from their smartphones.

Although Vivo has announced its new technology, it has not revealed the technology being this complicated 120W SuperCharge technology. The video does not show a full charge cycle like Xiaomi showed off, but getting so much juice within a matter of seconds is really commendable. Vivo's new fast-charging technology will require no longer than 13 minutes to complete the charging process for smartphones with 4000mAh battery, making it the fastest fast-charging solution right now. However, there are speculations the tech could first feature in VIVO's 5G phone which will be announced at the same event. The main issue with such fast charging solutions inevitably tends to be battery degradation, so we'll have to see what Vivo is doing to ensure that the battery itself is able to sustain these voltages. The 120W super flashcharge is a huge improvement over the previous tech, though we are not sure when to see this in real usage. Well, if Vivo's claims are true, its 120W charger is definitely faster than the 100W fast charging solution, which takes 17 minutes to fully charge a phone.

The Super FlashCharge tech and new Vivo handsets are set to make an appearance at MWC in Shanghai next week.
