Atletico Madrid have completed the signing of England full-back Kieran Trippier from Tottenham Hotspur.
In general, the club shelled out up to $211m for new players this summer.
Neither club have released how much the transfer has cost, but reports suggest it was for around 25 million euros. Now he has opted for the La Liga squad and a three-year agreement has been already signed.
Trippier (12) opened the scoring in England's World Cup semi-final loss to Croatia. But he had a tough go of it at times this season with Spurs. "I'll see what happens and what the club wants most importantly".
Kieran Trippier is Atletico Madrid's first English player in 95 years. They've got a quality team and an unbelievable manager. The more impressive sum was paid for Joao Felix. On the other hand, Atletico are taking a bit of a risk considering his dip in form last season.
The 29-year old may command a similar fee to that of Trippier, and has not been without his suitors in the past.
Atletico are also considering Napoli playmaker Fabian Ruiz as an alternative, but president Enrique Cerezo said on Tuesday the Rojiblancos are interested in James.
Atletico Madrid were in need of some depth regarding their backline.
Atletico, who finished second in La Liga last season, bid farewell to captain Diego Godin and stalwart full backs Juanfran and Filipe Luis after their contracts expired, while France defender Lucas Hernandez has moved to Bayern Munich.
Trippier is believed to have had a successful medical on Tuesday.
