AWAY: Faye Dunaway canned from Broadway play after allegedly slapping crew

Faye Dunaway has been fired from the one-woman play Tea At Five, Deadline confirmed on Wednesday (July 24).

The producers of "Tea at Five" said in a statement they had "terminated their relationship" with the actress.

Dunaway is reportedly travelling in Europe and has yet to comment on her dismissal.

The new version, produced by Ben Feldman and Scott Beck, streamlined the two-act format into 90 minutes and focused primarily on Hepburn in 1983 as she recovers from her vehicle accident injury and looks back on her famed romance with Spencer Tracy. The project was set to mark Dunaway's return to Broadway for the first time in 35 years. The statement continued: "Plans are in development for the play to have its West End debut early next year with a new actress to play the role of Katharine Hepburn".

Once production source said that she had left "troubling, rambling, angry" voicemails to some team members during the middle of the night, insisting also that no one could wear white because it distracted her, similarly, she didn't allow anyone to move in the theater because it would distract her.

Furthermore, sources claim that Dunaway had a meltdown and demands that staffers at the Huntington Theater get on their hands and knees and scrub the floor of her dressing room.

The play had been due to move to NY following a three-week run at Boston's Huntingdon Avenue Theatre.

As she was rehearsing, she began to lose weight. She looked so emaciated that a production member called Dunaway's former assistant for advice. She also threw hairpins, combs, and mirrors at workers.

According to the star's Wikipedia Page, she is very protective of her private life and seldom gives interviews.

According to sources, Dunaway had wanted to play a younger version of Hepburn and had been pulling the gray hairs out of the wig.

"Tea for Five" ran in Boston from June 22 through July 14, though at least one performance was canceled with little notice.

This is not the first time Dunaway has displayed erratic behavior in a show. "She was still living [then]", Mulgrew told Lola Ogunnaike on PeopleTV's Couch Surfing.
