Coco Gauff, 15, beats Polonia Hercog at Wimbledon, advancing to Round 4

You can't really change a Hawk-Eye call. "When I was down 5-2, I was just like, I can fight back". "And I just kinda went for my shots, and I'm happy that slice down the line went in".

Teenage sensation Coco Gauff vowed to make Centre Court her own after continuing her fairytale Wimbledon adventure with a stunning comeback against Slovenia's Polona Hercog. She needed three set points to get it done, but after being down 5-2 with one point between her and the locker room, she won the set. Under pressure, the teenager hoisted a high lob, but it was short, inside the service box. But then Hercog started to come back.

Hercog won the first set against Gauff, and she actually was match point away in the second set as well, up 5-2.

She finally stopped a rot of seven successive games for her opponent with a hold to love, but was unable to make any headway in her return games as Hercog protected her lead easily. She has made three third round appearances, including one at Wimbledon in 2017 when she qualified and won her first two rounds beating Annika Beck and Varvara Lepchenko.

However, those stats dropped significantly in the second set as Hercog's first-serve win percentage fell to 68% (15 of 22) with her second serve at just 62% (28 of 45). She oozed calm self confidence and maturity, delivering powerful serves, accurate ground strokes, and forceful returns.

Even then, her talent was obvious.

Five minutes can seem like an eternity. The Frenchman was impressed by the American player, who trains in his Academy in Nice.

Anderson could only convert one of his nine break points and lost 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (4) to Pella, who reached the fourth round at a Grand Slam tournament for the first time.

Eventually they headed to a tiebreaker, Gauff's first at a tour-level event.

Those exiting Friday (UKT) included last year's runner-up, No. 4 Kevin Anderson, who was knocked off by No. 26 Guido Pella 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (4). Hercog would never again get that close to winning.

Gauff will play Hercog on Center Court once the match before her - between Simona Halep and Victoria Azarenka - is finished.

"I have seen her do things at a young age or win games at a young age that she is not supposed to win", said Black, who witnessed Gauff, at the age 13, become the youngest to reach the US Open girl's final.
