Early Prime Day Deal: New MacBook Air Now $999

Apple continued its trend of quietly updating its laptop lineup this week, releasing a few hardware updates for its MacBookPro and MacBook Air computers, while killing off the last of the non-touchbar MacBook Pro options.

We're talking about the new entry-level MacBook Pro which witnessed some impressive upgrades, including the introduction of the Touch Bar - which wasn't previously on the base 13-inch model - and a more powerful 8th-gen Intel quad-core processor (as well as True Tone tech for the Retina display, plus Apple's T2 security chip). That price could come from Amazon, Best Buy, or Rakuten, which historically have offered the best MacBook Air prices.

The all-new Apple MacBook Air was refreshed late past year with this hugely popular machine getting a stunning new look and much sharper Retina display.

Apple has discontinued the 12-inch Macbook that it first introduced in March 2015.

The new entry-level Macbook Pro features an 8th-generation dual-core processor, stereo speakers, 8GB of RAM, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, a Force Touch trackpad and your choice of either 128GB or 256GB of internal SSD storage.

The 2019 base MacBook Pro averages a single-core score and a multi-core score of 4,639 and 16,665, respectively.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro packs powerfulprocessors, super-fast SSDs, all-day battery life and the best Mac notebookdisplay ever. This configuration has Intel's Core i7-8557U, which reportedly is a custom version of its Core i7-8550U processor, with a TDP of 15W and a max Turbo Boost frequency of up to 4.5GHz.

Keep in mind that these are just benchmarks and real-world performance can differ. Even the 2013 Mac Pro now sports lower SSD prices, with the 1 TB SSD model costing $200 less. The price for the air is also being lowered to $1,099 ($999 if you're a college student).
