First Look Inside the 'CATS' Movie

The video features numerous star-studded cast, including Taylor Swift, James Corden, Idris Elba, Rebel Wilson, Ian McKellen, Judi Dench, Jennifer Hudson, and more, prancing around set and explaining what the production process has been like.

A first glimpse into the set of Cats features world-class ballet, digitally created fur and Taylor Swift wistfully recalling her first steps in showbusiness.

When Judi Dench shows up looking like a human-cat hybrid, I fucking lost it. Oscar-winner Judi Dench looks like some CGI nightmare and I couldn't stop laughing. Numerous stars appear in the video below, which is a teaser for the big trailer that is dropping on Friday.

While the actors featured in the exclusive clip will be playing cats on screen, none of them are shown in costume: "We used digital fur technology to create the most ideal covering of fur", reveals Hooper.

When it was announced that a Cats movie was coming, I think we all just collectively assumed the actors would be donning cat costumes and make-up and prancing about, just like the long-running Broadway production.

Originally opening in 1981, Cats has music from Andrew Lloyd Webber, with lyrics from TS Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats. Another film adaptation of a beloved musical, Hooper's Les Misérables was both a money-maker and a crowd-pleaser - earning $441.8 million worldwide against a $61 million budget and satisfied general viewers even more than it did critics. In 1983, "Cats" received seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and ran for 18 years, establishing it as one of theater's best productions. In the video shared, the Cats cast, including Taylor and Idris, takes us behind-the-scenes and shows us the extravagant sets designed for the authentic feel.
