Four bodies found in Markham, Ont., home; one man in custody

When officers arrived, they made contact with a man at the front door; he was taken into custody.

Homicide detectives and forensic officers were all on scene investigating late into Sunday night, reports CP24's Codi Wilson.

"These are the most serious offences and the man is in custody", Const. Andy Pattenden said at the scene Monday morning.

Police say one person is in custody after four bodies were found in a home north of Toronto on Sunday afternoon.

Pattenden wouldn't say what or if there was a relationship between the accused and the victims.

Ammara Riaz, a neighbour of the family who previously lived in their home - as a tenant, for almost five years - confirmed that a profile picture attached to the account of user Menhaz was that of Zaman.

At this stage, police are not identifying the four victims until after post-mortems.

"Menhaz was so sweet". He said they are all members of the same family.

Police said they expect to be at the home for at least the next few days. "Mumtaz (the mother) was always in charge and would complain about her daughter".

Neighbours said the residents of the home were extremely quiet, but were often seen gardening and taking care of the outside of their home, which is dotted with floral arrangements, a budding garden and sacks of soil by the garage.

Riaz said she was last at the home on June 25 when Mumtaz invited her to the parents' 25th wedding anniversary.

The 23-year-old will appear in court Monday.

"I can tell you that those people were not transported to hospital, they were all pronounced dead at the scene", he said.

Zaman's case is expected to return to court on August 2.
