Gianluigi Buffon returns to Juventus after one season at Paris St-Germain

It's a return for the 41-year-old Buffon after one season away at Paris Saint-Germain.

He has signed a one-year contract with the bianconeri, who are now managed by former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri.

Buffon has already accepted the deputy position to Szczesny as he bids to take up a future role in management after the season is over. He needs eight appearances to overtake former AC Milan captain Paolo Maldini as the most capped player in Serie A history.

However, despite winning the league at a canter, the past season was a poor one for both Buffon and a team with lofty ambitions on the European stage.

But it is unclear whether the 41-year-old would return as a certain starter for Juventus next season or sit on the bench. Buffon agreed a deal to return to Turin and the move was confirmed once he passed a medical.

After a year with Paris Saint-Germain, where Gigi registered saves on 73,5% of his attempts, won 13 of 17 games played in Ligue 1, and added a French league title along with a Super Cup to his incredible trophy cabinet, Gigi has officially returned to Juventus.

The former Italy skipper, who won 176 worldwide caps, is one of the most decorated players in the game.

They missed out on both domestic cup competitions and most importantly were dumped out of the Champions League by Manchester United in embarrassing style, blowing a 2-0 first-leg lead to go out on away goals following a controversial last-gasp penalty.
