Mane to miss Liverpool's clash against Man City

Sadio Mane will miss Liverpool's Community Shield match against Manchester City as Jurgen Klopp confirmed he is to return from vacation on August 5.

Pre-season has been hampered by unavailable players for the European champions so far, with Mane in the Senegal team beaten in the Africa Cup of Nations final by Algeria on Friday.

"Designed in stylish phantom black with the embroidered club crest and New Balance logo in vibrant Tidepool - and the logo of the club's official headline partner Standard Chartered in white - the new strip will make its first matchday appearance when the Reds take on Sevilla in Boston on Sunday", a statement on the club's official website read.

Holiday "He is now on holiday, not the longest one, he will be back on August 5, after the Manchester City game". That means he has two weeks. "There are four or five days to prepare for Norwich, 10 days for Chelsea [in the UEFA Super Cup]", added Klopp.

Mane is not alone in his absence, as Roberto Firmino, Alisson Becker, who both featured for Brazil's Copa America winning side, and Mohamed Salah, who starred for Egypt at AFCON, are also on extended breaks.

"It means then we have almost a week until City [in the Community Shield], a strong 12 days until Norwich and then 15 or 16 days until Chelsea [in the Super Cup]".

"As it stands, previous year we spoke to the club and asked them if they wanted to do something and they said not at that time", Milner told the Liverpool Echo.

"Again, I come back to that, I know that, I plan the training, I know what we did, I know we're exhausted, but I still want to win". You still have to do the physical work, but we are really in a hurry pretty much to do that.
