Overmars - 'Sell Ozil and get Ziyech for half the price'

Ziyech had an outstanding season for Ajax last time around, as a key player as they stunned Europe and came within a whisker of the Champions League final, knocking out Real Madrid and Juventus en route.

Ajax, though, remain at risk of being stripped of their best players after a stunning campaign and Frenkie de Jong has already moved to Barcelona in a £60million deal.

Ajax technical director Marc Overmars has made a public pitch to Arsenal for winger Hakim Ziyech, who he believes would be high enough class to directly replace Mesut Ozil at a fraction of the cost. He has played better every year and his statistics are exceptionally good. Arsenal hasn't been linked with many players that can replace Mesut Ozil but Hakim Ziyech has been one of the names mentioned that have the capability to replace the German worldwide if he gets sold this summer.

Gunners' legend Overmars claims £25million-rated Morocco playmaker Ziyech, 26, would be a "half-price" and "better" alternative to £350,000-a-week German Ozil, 30.

Plenty of questions have been asked of his value to the Arsenal cause and his suitability to the system favoured by Gunners boss Unai Emery.

After the Gunners failed in the pursuit of Wilfried Zaha many experts believed that Emery would now turn his focus to Hakim Ziyech.

'They look more at the numbers than at what he shows and what is happening around him.

Ornstein said: "Arsenal have analysed him & he's not a player that they will be pursuing as far as I know. So it could just be that he stays with Ajax." added Overmars. "Look how it worked out for Ajax, but also for him; he is now an worldwide with Brazil". Creativity always pays off and he has more in his tank than people think. So the gunners are stuck with him and might not sign Hakim Ziyech.
