Stranger Things star Caleb McLaughlin discusses what’s next for the series

This statement is regarding the mid-post credit scene of the finale. The show has to come back after that one, right? Lucas' ten-year-old sister says it shortly before climbing into an air vent in an attempt to find the secret room in the Starcourt Mall. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, McLaughlin discussed the show's future, predicting whether or not there will be a fourth season and considering what that season might entail. "It's all up to the Duffers and the writers if they want to keep going". "Maybe they want to stop now". Whereas Season 2 kind of had a lot of fat to trim (The Lost Sister, particularly), the third season gave us a solid, compact story, with nearly all the loose ends tied up in the end. "I talk to people about this all the time, we can literally leave you guys hanging on the Upside Down". It's certainly a thrilling hour, able to deliver punch lines and exciting moments: but observed from a more fundamental level, "The Flayed" suggests Stranger Things 3's early problems may end up being its defining elements: an aimless story full of nostalgia porn and a decidedly pro-capitalist bent, just able to coast on its strong foundation of character and atmosphere to survive.

McLaughlin also dug into his character a bit, admitting that he'd like to see Lucas continue to evolve. Like LOST or The Expanse, what Stranger Things does in the genres of horror and science fiction are less important than its ambitions as an ensemble drama: in the end, we'll remember these relationships and moments more than its overarching plot of aliens, Russians, and Joyce's failing magnets. I feel like Lucas is the man with the plan.

One anonymous employee helping the dismantling process said she was told to pack away the Scoops Ahoy set possibly for future "Stranger Things" amusement park attraction. With that in mind, we have to wonder what exactly they're waiting for.

From the looks of the tweet he posted on Sunday, King is now about mid-way through Season 3.
