Twin babies found dead in auto after father 'forgot about them'

A Hudson Valley man and father of infant twins he allegedly forgot inside a hot vehicle while at work has been charged in their deaths, police said.

As of Friday evening, no charges had been filed against the father, according to the local news station. "EMS responded and pronounced them each deceased on the scene". Upon arrival officers found a 1-year-old feminine and a 1-year-old male unconscious and unresponsive seated within the rear of a Honda sedan.

The father, identified as Juan Rodriguez, was charged early Saturday with manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide in the deaths, WCBS and ABC News report.

Police say the frantic father called emergency services but his one-year-old daughter Mariza and her twin brother Phoenix were already dead.

He said the kids were "foaming at the mouth".

It happened at W. Kingsbridge Rd. and Kingsbridge Terrace.

Rodriguez was at work at a nearby VA hospital while the children were in the auto, CNN reports.

As we note, law enforcement officials are still questioning the father. So, so sad for the poor infants, and all of their family, friends, and loved ones now grieving in their wake.
