‘Avengers’ star Scarlett Johansson tops Forbes highest-paid actresses list

The worldwide actress has become a synonym to Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The former "Friends" star - a show which also featured a guest appearance from Witherspoon - stars in a new series for Apple's on-demand web television service. Starring Scarlett Johansson as the fallen Avenger Natasha Romanoff, the movie will take place before the character's tragic death in Avengers: Endgame, and it is slated to premiere in 2020. And that too for the consecutive year. Scarlett poses a jaw-dropping earning of $56 million for the year.

Marvel's upcoming solo "Black Widow" movie has surfaced from Friday's D23 Disney+ Expo in Anaheim, California through a leaked video footage.

For comparison, Robert Downey Jr., Johansson's "Avengers" costar, earned about $55 million for his turn as Iron Man in "Endgame". Unfortunately, Bollywood actresses like Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone who are also global icon and has been part of the Hollywood industry couldn't make it to the list this year.

At number two is Modern Family star Sofia Vergara with 44.1 million dollar earnings.

She is followed by Reese Witherspoon ($35 million) and Nicole Kidman ($34 million), costars on the series "Big Little Lies". Jennifer Aniston rounds off the top 5 highest-paid actresses of 2019 list with $28 million. Next, in the line are Kaley Cuoco, Elisabeth Moss and Margot Robbie. The Handmaid's Tale star stands on the seventh spot with an earning on $24 million and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood star stands on the eighth spot with $23.5 million.
